CD01 Engineering Design and AutoCAD

This module gives an insight into understanding the engineering design process, understanding the client’s problem, function and specification and finding answers to the problem, and reporting the outcome ethics in design.

EM01 Circuit Analysis (DC & AC)

This module will introduce students to basic electrical and magnetic circuits and components that are the building blocks for electrical and electronics systems.  Such components include resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors, operational amplifiers, transformers, and electrical motors. This module will focus on physical quantities such as voltage and currents, basic electrical and magnetic circuit principles, electrical power and energy, and operations of the diode, transistors, operational amplifiers, transformers, and motors.
EM02  Green and SMART Building Technology

This module highlights the various technologies that are currently available or are now being developed for the green and smart buildings of the future. It examines why green building performance is important, and how it can be measured and rated using appropriate benchmarking systems. Lastly, the module provides an overview of the state-of-the-art in green building technologies and the trend towards zero energy or net positive energy buildings in the future
EM03  Building Automation system

This course will enable you to identify and describe the major components in a BAS along with the basic mechanical components and controls in an HVAC control system. The module will explain the basic functions of DDC systems and HMI basics, reference codes and standards applicable to BAS, and justify control components for project work. This course will help you explain BAS and its integration to different service in building ie lighting, fire, security, etc and the process of implementing BAS, and Energy Conservation Control Strategies.
EM04 Instrumentation and Control

This module will provide a broad, Practical introduction of instrumentation and process control.This module course covers application, hardware, and performance of process measurement instrumentation and control valves.  The instructors will discuss advantages and disadvantages of various sensors ie flow, level, pressure, and temperature measurement techniques.  The principles of operation for each device will be presented, and potential problem areas will be stressed.  This course also provides practical, useful applications of different types of sensors in Building Auotmation System.
EM05 Building Science Fundamentals (HVACR)

This module students will learn how to apply technical knowledge of (ACMV) to operate and maintain the operating condition of heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This module includes instruction in diagnostic techniques, the use of testing equipment and the principles of mechanics, electricity, and electronics as they relate to the operating of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration system.

The course will also covers air-conditioning and basic mechanical refrigeration systems for buildings and industries. Students will also study practical examples of air conditioning system designs in modern buildings along with the energy conservation and control behind the system.

EM06 Programmable Logic Controller( PLC-I)

This module cover the basic introduction ot DDC/PLC programming and ints applications. In this course students will be introduced to different process control concepts, learn different PLC languages – and its programming. The course is divided into two parts, namely industrial automation and building automation. In the first part, will covers the basic functional block programming. Next, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) are introduced and their hardware and software are explained, special attention to ladder programming and functional block diagram.
EM07 Programmable Logic Controller( PLC-II)

This module is continuation with PLC-1 module.This moulde will cover the advance programming and logic deign of DDC/PLC controller. Topics covered will include ,AHU control, Chiller plant control their functions, programming and testing; identification of malfunctioning PLC/DDCs. This module will will also emphasis  on troubleshooting techniques and strategies to identify and localize PLC/DDC hardware generated problems. Emphasis is on writing complex programs and problem-solving using computer simulations.

The programme aims to provide the core discipline of Mechanical Engineering that allows students to make the right choice of further options. Mechanical engineers are in constant demand and mechanical engineers are able to venture into different industries like technology for manufacture, infrastructure, buildings, transportation, energy industries and innovative mechanical equipment. The programme covers a range of topics from designing, machine elements, thermodynamics and strength of materials. Entry Requirements
a) Obtained at least 3 GCE ‘O’ level including English Language and any 2 science subjects with minimum 3 years working experience.
b) Obtained at least Grade E in any 3 GCE A level subjects or its equivalent.
c) Matured students with more than 5 years of relevant working experience will be considered.
d) Other qualifications will be considered on a case-to-case basis.

Assessment Mode
– All subjects will have a 100% examination, with each subject 24 contact hours.
– The project module will have 48 contact hrs.
– Students must attain a pass in every subject and pass in the project. The passing mark is 50/100 marks.
